Meet Ireland Baldwin, the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. See photos, video and a biography of the young 13-year-old who is growing up fast and has inherited her mother’s movie star beauty.
Alec Baldwin brought his daughter to the red carpet at the 15th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 25, 2009, where the actor received two SAG awards for performances in the critically acclaimed Golden Globe and Emmy winning NBC sitcom ‘30 Rock,’ created and produced by Tina Fey.
This is the same daughter whom Baldwin infamously ranted at in a voicemail message that leaked to the Internet, in which he called her a ‘thoughtless little pig’ among other derogatory names, saying ‘you have humiliated me for the last time.’ She was just 11 years old at the time. He later made several public apologies and in a statement on his Web site, he attributed his improper behavior to the stress of the custody battle between himself and Kim Basinger and that he had been “driven to the edge by parental alienation.”
Father and daughter appear happily reconciled; at the recent Golden Globe Awards (where he was also a winner for ‘30 Rock’) he expressed appreciaion and affection for her, saying she makes him “laugh while I’m at home.”
As a biography, Ireland Baldwin was born on October 23, 1995 so her age is 13. Her full name is Ireland Eliesse Baldwin and she is also known as ‘Addie.’ At the time of her birth, both of her parents’ movie careers were in high swing; she was barely a year old while her father Alec Baldwin was shooting “Ghosts of Mississippi” and her mother Kim Basinger was shooting “LA Confidential” the movie for which she would receive an Oscar in 1998.
She was only five years old when her famous parents separated and seven when they divorced in 2002. As an unfortunate consequence, she has been known to the public mainly as the focus of a very brutal and public custody battle between high profile celebrities and even the subject of a book, Alec Baldwin’s ‘A Promise To Ourselves: A Journey through Fatherhood and Divorce’ which is a powerful and eloquent account of the pain and devastation of divorce.
Two years have gone by since the notorious voicemail and Ireland Baldwin seems to be happily reconciled with her father and by all appearances is faring well despite her unusual life experience.
